Thank you for such a thoughtful response! You get my point — I had to limit my ability to be affected by the Internet, especially when there WERE some things I needed to get done online. I just couldn’t keep getting sucked in. I learned how to get things done and then walk away.
I also learned to be productive; if I had an 8-hour window to be online, I used every minute of that time to get work done, and then I disconnected. I didn’t deviate from the tasks I needed to complete, and the aftermath (being disconnected) was liberating.
