So many resources. If you know C++, I bet Ruby will be like a nice, warm summer breeze.

And it’s literally never too late. If this is what you want to do, do it. Life is too short to not live out your dreams. Set a goal and make it happen. I’m sure you can.

I’m a technical writer. I love programming, and I do get to write code as a tech writer. It also allows me to be a jack of all trades (the downside: being a master of none).
