The Partner Program should be able to exist alongside these publications — in fact, if done well, the Partner Program should be able to FUND these publications. More high quality writing should bring in more paying members, which seems to be the goal. But like you said, it’s very “journalism”-esque, and anything that doesn’t fit that format has been getting very little visibility lately. And there is so much high-quality writing already that isn’t getting seen. I can only hope that they will hire more curators who work with independent writers to get them into these new publications.
