I’ve been writing on Medium for 2 years. I’ve enjoyed it. Some months, I’ve paid my NYC rent with my earnings. Other months, not even close. I’ve been searching for another platform to supplement my earnings, and I’m happy to report that I’ve found one.

The News Break Creator Program is new, but News Break itself is not. With over 20 million active users, News Break has become one of the most popular news aggregators in the United States. Now, they’re investing quite a bit of money in building their creator program. They promise to pay creators a guaranteed monthly minimum if they reach certain very achievable benchmarks and if they write regularly.

One thing that sets News Break apart is that you have the ability to tag your articles by location. If you write something local to your community, News Break will make sure that people in your area actually see it. When content is relevant, people are more willing to click on it.

To join the creator program, you’ll need to fill out a brief application and submit a few writing samples. I heard back within 3 days, signed the creator agreement, and started writing the same night.

Since the program is in its infancy, News Break pays a referral bonus when you refer other creators. Full disclosure: this is my referral link. If you plan to apply for the creator program, I’d love if you used it — but if you’re not into the whole referral thing, you can navigate to News Break’s website and sign up without using my link.

News Break also pays you when someone clicks on your article link and downloads the News Break app, which has over 489,000 reviews in the App Store. In other words: it’s a heavily-used app. There’s a good chance your writing will be seen here.

Writers: this is your chance to be one of the earliest creators on an established platform. Here’s to new opportunities.
